Flame: Firefighters Of Montana Book Five by Victoria Purman

Genres:  Contemporary Romance, Montana-Born

Dual POVs

The Blurb:

Cady Adams has had a crush on Dex McCoy since high school, but her ambitions were always bigger than the small Montana town they grew up in. In the years after, Cady headed to California and Dex ended up drifting from one job to another all over the US.

But when the rug is pulled from under her feet, Cady comes home to establish her business, Cady’s Cakes. What she doesn’t know is a family tragedy has pulled Dex home, too, and he’s taken a new job as a smokejumper.

Will they finally give in to what’s been burning between them for so long? Is the timing right to find out the dreamer and the drifter are really perfect for each other?

My Review:

Flame (Firefighters of Montana #5)Flame by Victoria Purman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars!! to “Flame” Firefighters Of Montana Book Five by Victoria Purman……..

“Flame” is the last book in the Firefighters of Montana series. I’m sorry to see it end because I have enjoyed this series, as well as the sexy Hot Shot smokejumpers!

This is Cady and Dex’s story. Back during high school Cady had a serious crush on Dex but when she made her feelings known, due to a misunderstanding, she was rejected and embarrassed. Shortly after, Cady left town to pursue her dreams of being a baker leaving her broken heart behind. Years passed and she moved back home and opened her own bakery in town. Cady is still embarrassed by what happened with Dex those years ago and is thankful that he never comes into her bakery. If she was truthful with herself she could admit she was a little sad by that too.

Dex is a smokejumper and finds himself back in town working for the Hot Shots firefighters. He is aware that Cady is back in town but purposely keeps his distance. Dex always wanted Cady but it didn’t work out how he would like. Even all these years later the attraction is there but he still avoids her.

Can Dex risk loosing out on a second chance with Cady? Will Cady take another chance at being rejected? Will they both realize that their hearts belong to each other?

I loved both Cady and Dex. The author did a great job with detailing and bringing fourth a believable and realistic story with a steady pace and sweet HEA.

Complexity: The Kinky Connect Chronicles Book Four BY Harper Miller

Genres:  Contemporary Romance, Erotica, Bisexual, M/M, Novella

The Blurb:

Fairy tale endings weren’t made for people like me. Happy for now usually ain’t in the cards, either.

The dents on my wall from where my headboard kept knockin’ against the same spot was the first clue that I needed to calm my ass down. At the rate I was racking up notches and plowing through hookups, I wasn’t ever gonna find nothing real. Guess I kinda jinxed myself. I created my circumstances. You can’t get what you want if you keep falling back into the same pattern of bad habits. But then things changed. I stumbled onto somethin’ I never in a million years expected to happen. You gotta understand, I’m never the guy who wins. It was supposed to be just sex, but that shifty, rhyming and scheming bastard, Cupid, pulled a fast one.

I may have changed some stuff to protect a couple of people. But before you go believing the tabloids, make sure you understand that you’re gettin’ the lowdown straight from the source.

I needed to get this off my chest and it’s only fair that you at least get my side of it all. At some point, I might regret telling you any of this, but for now, you need to know.

*Disclaimer* This is a novella. Not a short story, novelette, or novel. This tale features an M/M pairing. If gay erotica/erotic romance is not your cup of tea and you are offended by same-sex relationships or crass language, you should bypass this story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Complexity is the fourth installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

My Review:

Complexity (The Kinky Connect Chronicles #4)Complexity by Harper Miller

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!!!!!
This book was absolutely amazing.
Just wow!

*An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

“Complexity” The Kinky Chronicles book Four by Harper Miller was such a great book! I was absolutely engrossed from the first page and I hated that it was so short! Only 95 pages. “Complexity” is part of The Kinky Chronicles series but I personally found the romance in this novella intense rather than kinky. The relationship was believable as well as heartbreaking and tear inducing. This novella tells a story of love and the many obstacles that stood in the way of these two absolutely beautiful and “real” men. They had passion and problems and I was rooting for their HEA. Manny and Chris….<3<3
I’m gonna say it over and over; I loved these guys so much! I believed every word of this story; there was no “fluff” here. Nope. None at all. My heart just swelled for Manny and Chris. I worried, I cried, I was afraid for them but at the end I did smile. Big, goofy smile. Yeah and I felt like crying again too but they were happy so I was too.

Manny is a personal trainer just trying to make ends meet and save enough to open his own gym. Manny is bisexual and extremely sexually active. He hasn’t been in love or had any luck with relationships. But he wants those things. Manny is thirty-five and has little hope of finding his HEA. I felt so sad for Manny because he believed he would never find love. Yes, he had the love of his family: his mom, grandmother and brother Juan. Not many people knew Manny was a bisexual, just his mom and his grandmother along with a small handful of friends. Manny was afraid to tell Juan, of what his brother would think of him.

Chris was almost the complete opposite of Manny. Not only was Christ blond-haired, blue-eyed and gorgeous, he was a famous Hollywood actor. Chris was a 100% closeted homosexual. I felt so sad for him. His fear of anyone finding out was real. He was afraid he would ruin his career, his life. And he was willing to sacrifice love for it.

Manny and Chris meet on, where they arrange to meet discreetly at a hotel for a drink. Neither knew what the other looked like. At least not their faces. When Manny walks into the hotel room and sees Chris for the fist time and recognizes his hook-up as Christopher Kaine the celebrity, he is angry. At first he thinks it’s a joke and Chris insists it isn’t. Manny thinks it’s a very bad idea to get involved with Chris in a “secret” relationship. Manny worries this could be a situation where he ends up with a broken heart. I won’t say he doesn’t. Their journey to love is tough. These two were complex characters; the diversity between their background and lives was real. The dialogue between them was believable and I felt a connection with each one of them. Of course I would; I was rooting for them from page one! While reading, I could believe I was in the room with them. I felt their pain and fear. I felt their doubts and desires. And I was so thrilled with their HEA! It was a little predictable but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Despite the “kinky” in the series title, I didn’t feeling this book was smutty or dirty. Their feelings for each other was intense from the beginning, even before they fell in love. It was beautiful! This author has such a talent for pulling you in.

This was my first book by Harper Miller and I will definitely read more from her! There are a lot of different ratings for this book but for me it had all the “feels.” If I could give more than 5 Stars, I would.

Oh…don’t forget to go online to read the epilogue. This story was written in Manny’s POV, but we hear from Chris in the epilogue.

My Review:

Rode Hard, Put Up Wet (Rough Riders, #2)Rode Hard, Put Up Wet by Lorelei James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars!!!!

“Rode Hard, Put Up Wet” Rough Riders Book two by Lorelei James is the second book in this steamy series.

Ok, well first I have to say that Lorelei has become one of my favorite authors. She completely hooked me me with her “Blacktop Cowboys” series. This series, “Rough Riders” is another I am looking forward to reading as there are many books. 16.5 being the last one. The first book was amazing. I didn’t love this one as much. It had all the sex and steam with intense heroes but I felt like something was missing for me. It could have been because there were two couple’s searching for there HEA’s rather than the usual one. I believe because of the back and fourth, I didn’t have the usual connection to the characters. Gemma and Macie were strong woman, emotionally and physically and they were NOT pushovers. The heroes however, got on my nerves more often that not. Cash and Carter were hot, sexy alphas when it came to the bedroom (and other places..wink, wink) but they both had a lot of insecurities that made them a bit whiny for me. I was happy with the ending, their HEA’s. That being said, I wasn’t crazy with some of the choices Cash and Carter made when in came to the women in their lives.

Gemma is a widow and an older woman in her late forties. She is ten years older than Cash. She has been alone for long enough and is ready to move on with her life. Gemma is ready to ask Cash to help her on her ranch…and with others things. 😉

Cash has secretly been in love with Gemma for the past two years but she wasn’t ready for him. Until now. Cash accepts Gemma’s offer to help with her ranch with the intention to help with more than just chores. In fact, he makes that a job stipulation. She is the boss of the ranch but he is the boss in the bedroom. Now all he needs to do is get Gemma to fall in love with him.

Macie is Cash’s daughter. Macie desperately wants a father/daughter relationship with him. Cash has been absent most of her life and lets just say he is no father-of-the-year. But Macie is hopeful he wants to be a better father to her. While waiting at a rodeo for her father to meet up with her, she meets Carter McKay, a sexy, attractive cowboy. (who just so happens to work on the Bar 9, Gemma’s ranch)

Carter is an intense, emotional character. He is an artist and pretty insecure. You’ll read about why he feels that way. Carter is demanding when it comes to Macie, the woman he is becoming obsessed with. Unfortunately Carter has a lot to learn when it comes to woman and relationships. He learns all this the hard way.

I liked that we get a visit from characters of the previous book, Colby, Channing and Trevor. In addition, we get visits from Colby and Carter’s other siblings as well as a couple of others that will have their own future books. I’m looking forward to that and the next book which will feature the eldest McKay brother, Cord and girl next-door AJ Foster.

Some Sort Of Love: Happy Crazy Love Three By Melanie Harlow

Genres:  Contemporary Romance, Single Father, Autism

The Blurb:

From the outside looking in, I had it all—a career I loved, a supportive family, the Nixon metabolism but not the Nixon ears, and a salary that supported my lavish taste in designer shoes, fine wine, and lacy lingerie … but I had no one to share it with.

Until the day I ran into him—my one night stand from college with the crooked smile, let’s-get-out-of-here eyes, and dirty, dirty mouth.

Cute and cocky then, today Levi Brooks is six feet four inches of hot bearded fantasy. A sexy single dad with broad shoulders, strong hands, and a fantastically big … heart. (I mean, it’s massive. And generous. And it pumps so hard … um. Sorry. Lost my place.)

Being a good father means everything to him, but he’s keeping me at a distance because he thinks I deserve someone better — a man who can give me more time, more attention, more of himself. He doesn’t believe he could ever be enough.

But he’s wrong.

He’s everything.

My Review:

Some Sort of Love (Happy Crazy Love, #3)Some Sort of Love by Melanie Harlow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars!!! to “Some Sort Of Love” Happy Crazy Love Book Three by Melanie Harlow is a contemporary romance told in dual POV. This was my first book by this author and because I liked it so much, it won’t be the last.

Levi and Jillian’s story was filled with emotions. There was insecurity and fear on Levi’s part which is what kept up the little bit of angst in the story. There was not a lot of angst but just enough to bring extra emotion and development to the characters. Melanie’s writing style was smooth and steady as the pages flowed with realistic thoughts and dialogue. I was rooting for these two from the start!

Both Levi and Jillian were in there thirties, professionally and financially established. Jillian being a pediatrician and Levi an architect and single father.

Jillian is living for her job which she loves. She thrives at being a doctor but her hours at work are long and doesn’t leave much time for dating. Which is fine with her. Jillian is single by choice. It isn’t that she doesn’t want to settle down. In fact, if the right man came along she would happily give her heart.

Levi’s life is busy and a bit stressed but he wouldn’t change that for anything. His son is autistic and has some special needs. Levi handles the caring of his son well, if you don’t count the fact that he lives and breaths to keep his son’s life free of disruption. Hence the fact Levi has no social life of his own. Thankfully he’s too busy to complain about that. That is until Jillian comes into his life.

Ten years ago, during their early college days, Levi and Jillian met and “hooked Up” for one amazing episode of “closet sex.” Yep they did it in a maintenance closet on campus. Neither forgot that one night together even though they both moved on and went their separates ways afterward.

Now ten years later, they bump into each other at a wedding reception, both realizing it might be time for a change in their lives. Mutual attraction and scorching chemistry was a positive. The negative? Finding time to get to know each other because of their busy structured lives. These two really struggle to find that time without constant interruptions. If it wasn’t hard enough to fight for quality time, Jillian constantly fought against Levi’s worry to change anything in his son’s life. Levi wasn’t willing to do that. Knowing he couldn’t give her what she needed, he believed she deserved someone better. Needless to say it was not an easy journey for these two soulmates but in the end with a little help and encouragement from family and friends, Levi found the courage to fight for love, for Jillian.

Genres:  Romance, Menage, MFM, Erotica, Novella

My Review:

Blowing It Off (Stimulated #1)Blowing It Off by Lexxie Couper

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars!
“Blowing It Off” Stimulated Book One by Lexxie Cooper was my first book by this author. It was a good storyline, a quick, no angst read with a bit of suspense. However it fell just a bit flat for me. I just felt that our heroes could have groveled more for forgiveness of their mistakes. And our heroine forgave and forgot too quickly. But of course that’s just my opinion of what I prefer in my favorite novels/novellas. I like to see my heroes work for it!

This is a menage MFM featuring Phoebe, Will and Damon. These three have been friends for a long time however one weekend they take their relationship to an intimate level. Phoebe is thrilled and she admits that she has feelings for them both that are more than friendship. Phoebe wants to see where things go. She is not ashamed of being publicly involved in a polyamorous relationship.

Will and Damon panic and let Phoebe think their one weekend together was just for fun and it didn’t mean anything to them.

Liars! Cowards! She was devastated! 😦

Brokenhearted, Phoebe moves away to another town. When her glass blowing shop catches fire and is destroyed, the fire investigators are called in. Did I mention that Will and Damon just so happen to be fire investigators?

Will and Damon know they were the biggest idiots to let Phoebe leave thinking they didn’t care for her. But now that they have the opportunity to see her again after so many months, they have to convince her they want more than a relationship with her. They want forever!

My Review:

Where She Belongs (The Forever Collection Book 1)Where She Belongs by Dani Wyatt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars!!!!

“Where She Belongs” The Forever Collection Book One is by Dani Wyatt.

This was a fun, cheesy insta-love/lust romance with a virgin alpha hero and a ridiculously naive virgin heroine.

What a great short read! I loved both characters! Here we have the story of Decker Lawrence and May Morgan.

May is a sheltered wealthy young woman who has been kept from the real world by her guardian since the death of her parents several years prior. May and her sister aren’t allowed to leave the property. They were both still underage when they lost their parents in a tragic accident, which also injured her older sister. Their guardian could surely use lessons in honesty and good morals. He is manipulating May into an arranged marriage. May comes up with a plan to earn her own money. She will sneak out of the house at night and get a job as a dancer in a nightclub. She hopes to earn enough of her own money to support herself and her sister. Let me mention that May is nineteen and legally should not be under the rule of a guardian any longer. Her sister is a few years older. So why do they still have a guardian when they are both of legal age to take care of themselves? Hmmm…

Decker is the owner of several well established nightclubs but his main office is in his newest, The Monarch. Decker is tall, sexy, and totally an alpha. Oh, did I mention he is a virgin? In his late thirties!? Trust me, that did not stop that hot man from knowing what to do when it came to being with May.

Decker and May were cute together. There is some light suspense and foul play happening to give the story a slightly darker tone but it was definitely a fun read. And sexy, steamy!

This was the first in a series and my first book by Dani Wyatt. I would definitely like to read more from her. As a matter of fact, I am looking forward to the next in this series. I’m actually hoping it will be about May’s sister and Decker’s good friend and coworker.

My Review:

Lost Bear (Bear Mountain, #5)Lost Bear by Ruby Shae

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Bear Mountain Series Book Five: “Lost Bear” by Ruby Shae…

3.5 Stars!!!

This was the last book in this series. Each book was super short and cute with the heroes, sexy and protective, while the heroines were insecure and lonely. I enjoyed this whole series. These are great stories if you’re in the mood for a quick read with sexy alpha heroes with light suspense and a small amount of angst. They are all around sixty-five pages.

This story is a bit different from the others but no less romantic. Here our bear shifter is the heroine. Our hero is the town’s sexy deputy.

Emma and Dave…..

Emma feels a strong pull to return to Bear Mountain where her cousins live. She can sense the pregnancies of their mates and that reason alone compels her to visit. Emma returns to Bear Mountain but unlike the other shifters who live there, she has been living in the form of her bear for the last tens years. She was tired of always being hurt from bad relationships so she gives up men entirely. That is until she feels a connection to a human; a gorgeous, sexy man who is the town’s deputy. Could she trust her instincts that this man is her mate or is she destined for more heartache?

We are introduced to Dave in the first book of the series and we get to know him more in each book after. I liked Dave from book one and I’m so glad he gets his own story. Dave is deputy to the town of Bear Mountain. The Sheriff is a bear shifter. Dave has gotten to know all the shifters in town and he loyally keeps their secret. He has also been witness to each one of them finding their mates. Since, he’s been melancholy, feeling envious and lonely; this only fueled his own desires to find love. When he is drawn to a bear wandering around the woods behind his home, it isn’t concern or fear he feels. It’s protectiveness and longing. He suddenly feels lighthearted and a strong feeling of hope. When Emma finally shifts to her human form, Dave knows she was meant to be his. But Emma is in denial and stubborn when it comes to admitting that Dave could be her mate. She is determined to protect her heart.

Emma has been lost and wondering. Dave will stop at nothing to show her that not only has she found a place to call home and her family, she found him. And forever he will love and cherish her. Dave was awesome and I fell in love myself.

Although these can be read as standalone, I was glad I read them in order.

My Review:

Hard Rules (Dirty Money, #1)Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***An ARC was given to me by the author, Lisa Renee Jones, via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review***

Release date August 9, 2016…..

“Hard Rules” by Lisa Renee Jones is book one in her new Dirty Money series. This is my first novel by Lisa so I didn’t know what to expect when reading it. I will say I really liked it! This novel tells the story of Shane and Emily. Shane is a lawyer, wealthy, intense and absolutely alpha! Shane is desperately trying to fight against the corruption of his father’s company, trying to make the business honest. All the while trying to stay several steps ahead of his reprehensible, villainous brother.

Emily…well let’s just say she has secrets! However, on the surface, she is a strong, courageous woman just trying to stay ahead of whatever she is running from.

Shane and Emily have intense burning chemistry and these two can ignite passion like no one’s business. Shane was so alpha! Lord that man was sinful and sexy! That being said, Emily was not a pushover. These two are very complex characters that have many secrets with a side of lies on top. I thought the story started out a bit slow but it picked up pretty quickly. I admit that I had to re read the first chapter because I was somewhat confused as to what was happening. There is a great deal of mystery and suspense. In addition, there are many secondary characters making the story even more complex. Personally, I didn’t know who to trust. The author had me guessing, that’s for sure. The pace of the novel was steady with twists and turns constantly. I recommend paying close attention when reading this so you won’t miss anything because there is so much going on and we are left with a bushel of unanswered questions and secrets still hidden. After reading the last few pages, I believe some issues, but not all, will be resolved early on in the next book. Yes this was a cliffhanger but I did know that before I decided to read this. I will definitely read more by this author. I just hope the wait for book two will not kill me!

My Review:

Idle Bear (Bear Mountain, #4)Idle Bear by Ruby Shae

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars!!!

“Idle Bear” Bear Mountain Four by Ruby Shae.
This fourth novella in this series features B&B owner, curvy and lonely Sara Henley and Aaron Williams, a grizzly bear shifter.

Neither Sara nor Aaron are happy with how their lives are going. Sara runs a popular Bread and Breakfast. She loves the small town of Bear Mountain and doesn’t want to live anywhere else. Unfortunately, aside from the tourist or two she might find to fill her lonely nights, there are very few eligible men left in the small town. And the ones that are available; she has no interest in.

Aaron hates being a bear shifter nor has he been happy with his human side. He dislikes the bear so much that he hasn’t shifted for the past hundred years. Aaron is even less happy with his lack of love life. He thinks he is not destined to find his mate. An obligation is pulling him to Bear Mountain so when he arrives, the last things he expects is the strong attraction he instantly feels toward Sara. However, Aaron is stubborn and does not want to give in to his feelings for Sara but he can’t deny the protective instincts she brings forth within him. Aaron was conflicted and didn’t want to involve Sara in his shifter life; he believed she deserved better. Aaron loved her but he made some mistakes that frustrated me. But even though he hates his bear, Aaron must embrace who he is truly in order to rescue Sara when she needs him the most.

This is a very short story so don’t expect three-dimensional characters and a well-developed plot as you would expect when reading a novel of length. There isn’t a lot you can do with 68 pages. That being said, I enjoyed this story for what is was; cute, short, and right to the point.
