32180897

Genres:  Romance, Cowboy, Erotica, Novella, Virgins H/h, Instalove

Dual POVs

The Blurb:

Blake Jennings has always wanted what his parents had: a sweet, simple love that lasts a lifetime. And when he meets Luciana, he knows she’s the one.

Luciana Salazar comes from a tight-knit family that pushes her to follow her dreams. When she takes a job on the Braided Rope Ranch, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with its owner, the dark-haired man she’s seen watching her in town.

Roping the Virgin is over-the-top sweet, with a heaping scoop of sexy steam. Blake sweeps his Luciana off her feet and gives her the life she’s always dreamed of.

Warning: Ridiculous is almost close enough to describe this irresistible short story. Come back to the Jennings farm and pull up a rocking chair. You’ll like the way they treat you.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Roping The Virgin” Cowboys and Virgins #2 by Alexa Riley.
My Rating: 4 Stars!!

Here we have another Alexa Riley novel you absolutely can’t go wrong with. I just love the heroes in AR novels. They are so ridiculously over the top, intense and possessive when it comes to their women. Total cavemen! I love it!

Blake Jennings has had his eyes on Luciana Salazar for a while now but she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. At least not yet. Because when a Jennings sets their eyes on something they want, it’s theirs. Now he just has to make Luciana see things his way.

That task becomes pretty easy once Luciana starts a live-in job on Blake’s ranch. She is interning on his ranch to help move her closer in completing her education and training. Luciana wants to be a veterinarian. Of course, living in Blake’s house only helps him in his goal.

Being so close to Blake’s irresistible charm and insistence that she belongs to him, Luciana can’t resist. Truth is, she doesn’t want to. Hey, when we’re talking about an Alexa Riley hero, I can’t resist either. This book was good but I Ty is my favorite brother so far. Ty’s story is in, “Branding The Virgin.”

Not only do they have to survive people trying to kill them, they need to trust each other and keep their wits about them, while ensuring their hearts stay intact.

My Review:

“My rating is 4.5 Stars! “Drawn In” was my first novel by Barbara Eldsborg. Wow! I loved this book! I did not know what to expect. I read the blurb, I read the reviews and I still wasn’t prepared for the roller coaster ride of emotion I went on. The two main characters each have something despairing going on in their separate lives. Kell is an undercover cop working as a security guard in a gay nightclub. The hell he went through while working this undercover job was horrific. Honestly I don’t know how he got through it each day. Kell was a strong character despite the things he’s going through in his life. Seriously the first pages in the book broke my heart.
Gethin is currently a Private Investigator. A job he hates. He also has something dark going on in his life. His story was not the same as Kell’s however it was no less heartbreaking. To be honest I didn’t know how his part of the story would end up in an HEA. I want to say it was complicated but it was way more than that.
So despite how horrible their separate lives were, when they were together it was amazing. They were intensely attracted to each other but both cautious about keeping it casual. There was just no way their lives could entwine and it be a good thing. Eventuality their jobs as a Private investigator and an undercover cop collided. And holy crap! I was freaking out with the deadly drama they got involved in. There was so much angst and drama going on between their professional lives AND private lives I worried how this would end. I wanted these two men to find love and a future together. They deserved it so much with all they had endured in their lives.
Yes this novel is a romance but I wouldn’t call it romantic. It was drama, angst, and suspense with some other pretty nasty things added to the mix. But overall I really enjoyed it. It was well written. There were a few wonderful secondary characters as well. There were most definitely despicable ones too. The ending was a bit rushed for me though. There were a couple of the seedy characters that we know will get their comeuppance, however they were so utterly despicable, that I wanted them to suffer on the pages so I could read about it. Yeah, I’m bad, I know. But when you read this amazing story, you’ll understand why.
An intense but satisfying novel. It was sexy and sad and I am glad I got to read it.

My Review:

Behind Closed Doors (Careless Whispers, #2.5)Behind Closed Doors by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Behind Closed Doors” Careless Whispers 2.5 by author Lisa Renee Jones.
My Rating is 4 Stars!

**I was given an ARC from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

“Behind Closed Doors” is an addition the the Careless Whisper Series. However this novel is a standalone with an HEA and you do not need to read the prior books in this series to enjoy it. I am actually proof of that because I have yet to read them. And I do stress yet. The heroine from the first two books and an upcoming release, Ella, makes several appearances adding intrigue in this story and some clues to her own story. And I will say no more.

This story features Skye and Jason. Skye, a recent transplant to San Francisco finds herself at a storage unit auction with her new friend Ella. Ella is trying to help Skye earn extra money to expedite her dreams of law school. Skye has some darkness in her past that unfortunately effects her current life. She does not trust easily. Especially men. But Skye finds more that assets in the unit. It puts her in the path of a mysterious man who she does not trust.

Jason Wise, AKA “Red Bull” on the professional poker playing circuit, finds himself having to convince Skye that he is trustworthy. The ironic part is he isn’t sure whether or not he trusts her. But he needs her trust because she may have information to put an end to his being blackmailed. Jason is a successful, wealthy poker player for a very good reason. He can read people; learn things about them just by observing. Because of his astute ability to read people, he believes Skye is not part of the blackmailing scheme.

But who is?

There are so many possible suspects that I had to stay alert while reading, missing no clues. It was nearly 3/4 into the novel before I had a good idea of the villain. It wasn’t easy to figure out but I enjoyed the challenge. And I did guess correctly. 🙂

Skye and Jason are attracted to each other from the beginning despite the trust issues. There relationship builds and developed slowly. In other words, no jumping into bed right away. Skye had some emotional issues she was dealing with that really didn’t have anything to do with Jason. She was wary and afraid to get involved in a relationship with him. I though Jason was the perfect hero for Skye. Not only because he was the stereotypical, wealthy, attractive. sexy hero. He was sweet, very patient and understanding of Skye’s feelings and fears. This really has nothing to do with Jason personally, but if I had one complaint where he was concerned it would be that I couldn’t get inside his head. This story is told in Skye’s POV (with one small chapter from Ella). Because of this I often didn’t know what Jason was thinking. It took me a while to trust him. Romances told in both H/h POVs is just my preference and in no way reflects negatively on my review. Like I said…it’s just what I prefer.

With that said, this book was suspenseful but not overly dark and angsty. I really enjoyed it, read it quickly and will definitely keep Lisa Rene Jone on my TBR list. So if you like romantic suspense that isn’t too dark, has some twists and turns with an HEA, I recommend, “Behind Closed Doors.”

The Blurb:

Aaron and Noelle have begun their married life on what appears to be stable ground. Aaron has tried to put Noelle’s past dishonesty behind him. But he is mystified as to why, no matter how much money he pours into AJA Beauty, Noelle’s makeup and skin care products business, that it’s never enough.

A hidden letter from a secret lover, an arm and hand skeleton sporting a gold and ruby ring, a broken ankle, an audit of AJA Beauty financial records, and a pirate’s treasure chest all combine to make a gripping story you won’t put down until the end.

My Review:

“Temptation Of Fatal Fortune” ebook two of two by author Haley Haze.
My Rating 2.75 to 3 Stars…

***I was asked by the author to read and give an honest review***

This part two was even shorter than the first book, “Temptation Of Fatal Curves.” It’s only 43 pages and I read it in around 30 minutes, maybe less.

Our couple, Noelle and Aaron, are married. However the marriage isn’t strong. As in the first book there is a bit of new suspense which I wasn’t surprised about BUT definitely didn’t expect. I was also surprised and not a little disappointed how this ended. I usually expect a certain type of HEAs in my romances and this was not that. Were Noelle and Aaron happy about their ending? Yes, I believe they were. I wasn’t happy but it was what was best for them.

Noelle’s actions in this book were even more despicable and selfish and I still didn’t like her. She didn’t deserve beautiful Aaron.

I was pleased with Aaron and the decisions he made, 100%. His character developed a little as he was not the same pushover he used to be. Good for you, Aaron!

My opinion is that both of these novelettes could have been combined into one story. I believe that would have benefited the plot having more backstory and personal details. I would have liked to understand and connect with the H/h better. But still, it was a quick, steamy story and I enjoyed it for what it was…super fast and super short. I would like to read more from this author in the future, seeing how she develops as a writer of erotica. There is potential for that.

One last tiny note…Don’t judge this book by the cover. You’ll understand once you start reading 🙂 .

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“Temptation Of Fatal Curves” ebook series one of two is by author Haley Haze.
My Rating is 3 Stars.
***Was asked by the author to read and give an honest review***

This ebook was very short and could be read in under an hour, which is why I call it a novelette.

The two characters, Noelle and Aaron, were one dimensional, no complexity at all, and there is very little back story to give us a clear picture of their personalities. However I was quickly able to determine that Noelle was whiny and selfish. Sorry but I didn’t like her at all.

Aaron was the opposite of Noelle. Although I thought he was somewhat of a pushover, he was sweet, kind and sexy. I liked him! Nicole and Aaron fell together in every way very quickly. Because this ebook was so short, I believe it had to be that way. I also believe if this was another fifty pages longer we would have more development and depth to Noelle and Aaron. I know I would have related to them better. As it was, their time together advanced very quickly. Nearly a year passed in this short book.

There is a bit of mystery to this so I won’t say too much more. I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that the book ended somewhat abruptly and their story will continue in the next book, “Temptation Of Fatal Fortune.” I am definitely going to read that next because I am curious to see how the author will pull off a HEA.

Alternating Third Person Perspective

The Blurb:

WIND RIVER VALLEY

First in a new series by the author of Night Hawk and Out Rider

 Still waters run deep . . .

From the moment  Roan Taggart picked up the pretty redhead at the Jackson Hole airport, his training and experience told him she was spooked. She’s left New York City to visit the Wind River Ranch, where Roan is a wrangler, and just as he can pick up a horse’s mood, he can feel the tension coming off her body.  And that vulnerability is triggering all his protective instincts…

Shiloh Gallagher likes the gray-eyed cowboy’s dry humor—and the Special Forces background that lends him a stoic, powerful presence. But she’s been scarred by trauma and her mother’s murder . . . and knows a strong man can be dangerous. She came to wide-open Wyoming to flee a threat that’s left her unable to write her novels. Now, as she rides horses with Roan and helps him build an isolated cabin, she’s slowly letting down her guard. But danger has followed her west, and they won’t have a future together unless they defeat a killer from her past…

My Review:

Wind River Wrangler (Wind River Valley, #1)Wind River Wrangler by Lindsay McKenna

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

***I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review***

“Wind River Wrangler” Wind River Valley #1 is by author Lindsey McKenna.
My rating is between 2.75 and 3 Stars

I remember for sure that I read a few Lindsey Mckenna novels years ago. But I honestly don’t remember which ones they were or what I thought about them. So with that said, I didn’t know what to expect with “Wind River Wrangler.” What I know for sure is after reading the blurb, I was eager to read it.

This was the slowest paced book I have ever read! I do mean SLOW. The story advanced at a snails pace; the plot seemed almost an afterthought as it was mostly in the background for the majority of the book. In my opinion, this novel could have been cut at least 100 pages.

Our heroine is a quiet writer from NYC. She had endured horrific circumstances in her past and now she has to deal with a stalker. Shiloh Gallagher has been living in fear and seclusion for the past six months. The police won’t help her; they think she is making the whole stalker issue up. A writer’s imagination and all that. Shiloh can’t live in fear anymore so she makes arrangements to spend a couple of months on the ranch of a family friend. Shiloh leaves NYC for the vast beauty of Wyoming. I understood the reasons that Shiloh had for being an emotional mess; I truly sympathized with her. However, after a while of reading her same thoughts over and over, I found her character to be whiny and weak.

Roan Taggart, ex military Special-Ops, is a wrangler on the ranch. He is drawn to Shiloh from almost the moment he meets her. It wasn’t her beauty that called out to him; it was her sad, desperate eyes and vulnerability. These traits brought out Roan’s protective instincts. Roan believed Shiloh when she told him about her stalker and he promised to keep her safe.

Roan and Shiloh had strong chemistry and they were good for each other. Roan was a sweetheart. I really liked his character. However the build up of their relationship was so slow that I worried it wasn’t going to work out for them. They didn’t have their first kiss until around 43%. They didn’t come together intimately until around 70%. That was a long time to wait given all the sexual tension going on. Shiloh was the insecure of the two, worrying about taking their relationship to the next level. It was unbelievable how overly patient and kind Roan was with her regarding waiting until she was “ready.” Nothing seem to get to this guy.

Their love scenes were very tame. Not really descriptive, so after all that sexual tension build-up, it was boring. Sweet but boring all the same. What frustrated the heck out of me, something I haven’t experienced before, was all the repetitive dialogue and monologue. Not to mention the scene set-ups were overly descriptive. I didn’t need to have all five of my senses on alert constantly. There were times I felt like I was reading from a script. In addition, Roan and Shiloh and constantly, constantly, constantly repeated their dialogue and of mundane conversations. The biggest disappointment was when the stalker finally made his move. It was predictable. For someone as intelligent as Shiloh, I can’t believe the idiotic choices she made. Roan was constantly talking about his military expertise so I was eagerly waiting that to come into play. I don’t want to say what happened but it was ridiculous and dissatisfying, especially after all the anxiety caused by the stalker.

I want to mention one more thing…since this was an ARC and is not yet released, it still may be in the editing stages. But if not, I should mention that there were a lot of misspells. Also throughout, the sentences would end at one or two words before continuing onto the next line. That drove me crazy.

There are more novels to this series in the making but I don’t think I will read them. However, Lindsey McKenna has been writing a long time and she has many, many great reviews. I think I might like to backtrack and read on older one. I’m always openminded to an author/novel. Just because I don’t like one book doesn’t mean I won’t like any.

Prince With Benefits: A Billionaire Royal Romance by Nicole Snow

30762814

Genres:  Romance, Erotica, Adult

Dual POVs

The Blurb:

HE BOUGHT A WIFE. I BOUGHT INTO MAKE BELIEVE…

ERIN

Cinderella had it easy. I’m lying to millions of people, and it’s all Silas’ fault.

Yes, that Silas. Billionaire. Prince. Scandals galore. Downright royal bastard.

Everything that screams run. If only it weren’t for his rock hard edges and wild tattoos, tempting anything female on all seven continents.

But I don’t care about his looks. Really.

Our deal is simple. He needs a pretty little lie, a wife to cover up his dirty deeds. I need a fortune to buy the treatment that just might save my father’s life.

Match made in hell? Totally, and I’m going to make it work.

No, I’m not stupid. I’m not getting played by this billionaire prince. Forget his banter, his charms, the rumors I’ve heard about his ridiculously over-sized…ego.

What’s that phrase he teases me with – Prince with benefits? Not in a billion years.

Yes, I’ll lie for him. But I swear, my panties are absolutely, positively not melting every time I imagine his kiss…

SILAS

It’s almost perfect. An engagement with an American girl, desperate as she is beautiful. Anything goes with Erin, except one rule.

Her body’s off limits. She’s joking, right?

Charming any girl I want into my bed doesn’t mean a thing when there’s only one on my mind.

I want Miss Make Believe. My fake, sassy, sexy fiancee. She, who says ‘no,’ and makes me so obsessed I’m about to trade in my designer suit for a straitjacket.

I convinced her to wear my ring, easy. I’ll get her clothes off next. Show her what the world’s most infamous player does when he’s on fire. Then I’ll move on.

No more playing castle. I’ll have my Princess with benefits on her knees, treating me like royalty…

Prince With Benefits: A Billionaire Royal RomancePrince With Benefits: A Billionaire Royal Romance by Nicole Snow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My rating 3.5 Stars!
“Prince With Benefits” A Billionaire Royal Romance by author Nicole Snow.

***I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review***

After reading the blurb this was a story I wanted to read. There was a mix of reviews, some positive and many negative as well. I wanted to read this despite the low ratings because I often like what others don’t. And vice versa.

This story features an arrogant billionaire prince who was beyond spoiled. Talk about entitled! Silas was a real jerk and admittedly I didn’t like him for most of the book. There was a couple of moments I actually considered not finishing this novel. Not only was Silas unlikable and conceited but the first part of the book was slow.

Erin started of a strong character; she had gumption and clearly was unimpressed by the rich, handsome prince. But sadly, she too quickly became a pushover. Saying one thing…doing the opposite. But Silas needed her. He had to clean up his wayward image and Erin would help make that happen. Silas made Erin an offer she couldn’t refuse. She would marry him and in exchange, Silas would take care of her sick father, financially.

The premise of this story had potential and I would have liked it better if the H/h and secondary characters were more appealing and relatable. I really did have an issue with how Silas talked about and treated women in general. Even when he was with Erin, falling for her, he stilled used some crass names to her that made me cringe. Yes, he said those words in the context of an endearment but, still….

This story had the typical jealous, ex-lover involved that added angst to the story. Serena was a handful and I hated her, of course. But in the end….she got what she deserved.

The last third of the book made a abrupt turn. The pace picked up, I became more invested in the HEA, and I was satisfied with the end. I liked that Silas “grew up” as well as truly understand what was important in his life. In my eyes, he redeemed himself only as well as an arrogant, crude, billionaire prince could. And because of that last third of the book, I was able to rate it as a whole an honest 3.5 stars.

Although I didn’t love this book, I definitely didn’t hate it either. Nicole Snow has many other books out and I want to read another. Her love scenes were erotic and if you love a dirty talker…Silas is definitely your man. There was no lack of smut here…

My Review:

WranglerWrangler by Dani Wyatt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars! So if you like a dirty talking, sexy cowboy who goes over the top possessive and will stop at nothing to get his HEA, than you you will love this novel.

“Wrangler” by author Dani Wyatt……A standalone novel.

**Note…There may be some triggers here for some readers regarding child abuse. This was something that occurred in the past though.**

Ok…before I continue with my review I want to mention this is the second book I read by this author. It won’t be my last! I have to say thank you to my friends of Instagram because that was how I discovered this amazing novel of two people who were meant to love each other.

Chad Butler moves back to his home state after being away for the past five years. He left to isolate himself from the appalling crimes of his stepbrother. Now that he has returned he is hoping to set up a horse training business. Chad doesn’t plan to add a woman to his plans either. It’s not that he doesn’t want to, it’s because he doesn’t believe his perfect woman exists. That is until his best friend drags him out to the local bar on his first night back in town. Chad is stunned by his reaction to a beautiful, curvy waitress. He feels instantly protective and not a little possessive. From that moment on, he vows to stop at nothing until he makes that gal his.

Rachel Sweeting moved from her hometown, and loser of a mother, several years ago to live with her Aunt Jessie. Aunt Jessie welcomed her to her home. She gave Rachel love and security as well as a place to call home. A true home. A safe home. Rachel never had that before. Especially the love. Rachel was so grateful to her aunt for freeing her from a horrific childhood. Rachel works at a local bar a few hours a week, waitressing. During her shift one night she discovers a handsome, bearded cowboy watching her. All night he watched her. At first Rachel was concerned by his attention but there was something about him that made her feel safe.

I won’t spoil this story for you by giving too much away. There is a bit of angst and suspense that just adds to the charm of the story giving truth to the term “hero.” There was definitely insta-love/lust however I didn’t feel anything between Chad and Rachel was too rushed. Dani Wyatt did a fantastic job of giving us well-developed characters as well as fun and flirty dialogue. I just love a dirty talking’ sexy, hot cowboy. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

A Kiss Is Just A Kiss by Crystal Perkins

29008592

Genres:  Romance, Comedy

Told in Heroes POV

The Blurb:

A kiss isn’t just a kiss when it’s done right…

Kye Davies has always believed that kisses are just a means to getting in a girl’s pants (or better yet, her skirt). When his grandfather gives him a chance to get out of working in the family business, he agrees to the deal, even though it means embarking on a “kiss quest.”

His mission is simple…

He has to kiss ten girls from his past, and any number of new girls, to see if he can feel anything for once. Whether he finds the “One” or doesn’t, as long as he genuinely tries, he can go back to building the tiny houses he loves.

Nothing is ever as simple as it seems…

Weeks of kissing girls–and boys–leads to him being attacked, shot at, and challenged to a light saber battle by a three-year-old. It also makes him realize that the “One” may have been there with him all along, and he just didn’t know it.

10 kisses. 10 blasts from the past. 1 second-chance at love.

My Review:

A Kiss is Just a KissA Kiss is Just a Kiss by Crystal Perkins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loved this…My rating 4 stars!…to “A Kiss Is Just A Kiss” by Crystal Perkins…

My first Crystal Perkins novel and I loved it. It was cute, silly, funny, witty, and lighthearted. There was no angst or any other form of anxiety and yet I was still engrossed. Yes, there was a bit of adventure as that was the plot of the story. This was just a fun and refreshing short novel. I definitely will read more from this author.

Another fun fact for me was that this was written in the heroes’ POV. Oh the situations he found himself in were ridiculous….lol…

Kye Davies is our hero. He is the stereotypical gorgeous, rich, player. Kye has a mission to complete in a timely manner. If he wants to pursue his future without the strains of the family business, he must take on a “kissing quest.” You see, Kye’s grandfather believes in the power of a kiss if it comes from the right girl. He believes Kye will find his true love from a kiss. Of course Kye doesn’t believe this but is willing to go along for the sake of his beloved grandfather. What occurs as Kye goes through with his mission is hilarious. Good thing Kye is openminded. I’ll just leave it at that 🙂

It’s no surprise that Kye finds his magical kiss with the last girl he expected. I loved that part!

I really enjoyed this short novel; I want to read more just like it. Especially when I’m looking for something lighthearted. It was sexy, but clean. There was no graphic sex or dirty talking. I absolutely recommend this for anyone wanting to smile with something fun and flirty with a sweet, satisfying HEA!
