It’s Christmastime in Compass Cove and love is in the air…

With her well-connected Long Island family, an exciting job as a London art dealer, and a brilliant, attentive boyfriend, Natalie Miller’s life was golden. Until it wasn’t. No one knows about the anxiety that drives her, the loyalty forcing her to make impossible choices, or the secrets consuming her. Now back in Compass Cove, Natalie is fielding questions from her family about what brought her home and longs for the life—and the love—she left behind.

University professor and aristocrat James Phillips prides himself on understanding people, so it mystifies him when the love of his life leaves London—and him—without explanation. When an opportunity to work at a small college in Natalie’s backyard arises, James jumps at the chance to move across the pond, willing to do whatever it takes to win back the heart of the woman he loves.

Can the magic of Compass Cove at the most wonderful time of the year help James and Natalie find their way back to each other?

My 📝Review📝: 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Sweet story. Loved the characters and the town of Compass Cove. Christmas described in this quaint little village was beautiful and the lore of the town and its past was original and engaging. I have not yet read the previous books in this series but having met the couples here in My Christmas Wish,. I’m looking forward to it.

James and Natalie were a believable couple. I felt the chemistry and the love they had for each other. Despite the obstacles they faced, James was determined to get to the bottom of why Natalie left him so abruptly. I admit that the first chapters are a bit slow and as a result, I put this book down a couple of times. But once it started to move along at a steadier pace with a more engaging story, I could not put it down.

There is a bit of angst, a lot of secondary character involvement, humor and a sweet, endearing ending. I definitely recommend this book to those who not just love romance but also small town holiday influence.

While I received an advance reading copy of My Christmas Wish, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

The Kipling family has returned for a Christmas celebration.

Brenda Stratton is shocked and, in truth, a little appalled that she and her roommate have been invited by their mentors to spend Winter break at a cattle ranch in the mountains of Colorado. Why would a family they don’t know invite them to spend Christmas with them? People just don’t do that, at least not in her experience.

Thomas Blackhawk has been asked by his employer to escort, and work with, a bunch of engineers coming in for three weeks to see if they can discover what is causing the contamination of a stream in the northern pasture. They’ve only got a few months to get the problem cleaned up before the spring thaw.

Brenda and Thomas take one look at each other and the heat roars. She’s too young for him and she’s only on the ranch for a few weeks. They need to ignore the flair of attraction and lust, if they know what’s good for them.

Apparently they do not care what’s good for them.

What does a geeky math nerd know about writing romance?
That’s a darn good question. As a former techy I’ve done everything from computer programming to international trainer. Prior to college I had lots of different jobs and activities that were so diverse, I was an anomaly.
None of that qualifies me for writing novels. But I have some darn good stories to tell and a lot of imagination.
I have lived in Colorado, Hawaii and currently Washington. Going from two states with 340 days of sun to a state with 340 days of clouds, I had to do something to perk me up. And that’s when I started this new adventure called author. Joining the Romance Writers of America and two local chapters, helped me learn the craft quickly and has been a ton of fun.
My family consists of two grown children, their spouses, two adorable grand-daughters, and one grand dog. My favorite activity is playing with my grand-daughters!
When the girls can’t play with their amazing grand-mother, my interests are reading and writing, yay! I started reading at a young age with the Nancy Drew mysteries and have continued to be an avid reader my whole life. My favorite reading material is romance in most of the genres, but occasionally other stories creep into my to-be-read pile, I don’t kick them out.
Some of the strange jobs I have held are a carnation grower’s worker, a trap club puller, a pizza hut waitress, a software engineer, an international trainer, and a business program manager. I took welding, drafting and upholstery in high school, a long time ago when girls didn’t take those classes, so I have an eclectic bunch of knowledge and experience.
And for something really unusual… I once had a racoon as a pet.

They both have choices to make about their future…and about each other.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I enjoyed this book so much that after I finished reading it, I purchased the previous two books in the series. I enjoyed those books as well. Give me a warmhearted, all-the-feels, emotional Christmas romance set in a small town and you’ll find me first in line. I know I’ve said this in so many of my reviews but I’ll say it again….Christmas doesn’t last long enough for me to read all the holiday romances released for the season so I start reading them in September. There are so many wonderful Christmas romances available, it’s impossible to read all the ones I want in one season. But I try anyway.

Wrapped Up in Christmas Hope was the first book I read from this author. The story has a good reading pace and a slow development of the H/h relationship. When you meet the two protagonists in this book you’ll understand why they each were so careful with protecting their hearts. Hence the reason for keeping a distance. Or at least trying to.

Both Andrew and Morgan were strong characters and while I liked them both, Morgan was a touch standoffish at first. I couldn’t blame her for that, though.

The premise of the story is one that I found interesting however, because of the angsty plot, I wasn’t able to predict what would happen in the end. The ending was good although, I wished there was an epilogue. I wanted to see for myself how things worked out. I hope I’ll get a glimpse of their lives when/if there is another book in the series. And I can promise you that I will be looking out for that in the future.

While I received an advanced reading copy of Wrapped Up in Christmas Hope, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Review: 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Stars to “The Santa Suit” by author Mary Kay Andrews ~ Genre/trope: Women’s fiction, Christmas, mystery, romance, Release Date: September 28th 2021 ~ 🎅🎄

The Santa suit by Mary Kay Andrews

My Rating: 5

Cover: 3.5

Release Date: September 28th 2021

POV: Third person narration (Female protagonist)

From May Kay Andrews, the New York Times bestselling author of Hello, Summer, comes a novella celebrating the magic of Christmas and second chances in The Santa Suit.

When newly-divorced Ivy Perkins buys an old farmhouse sight unseen, she is definitely looking for a change in her life. The Four Roses, as the farmhouse is called, is a labor of love–but Ivy didn’t bargain on just how much labor. The previous family left so much furniture and so much junk, that it’s a full-time job sorting through all of it.

At the top of a closet, Ivy finds an old Santa suit–beautifully made and decades old. In the pocket of a suit she finds a note written in a childish hand: it’s from a little girl who has one Christmas wish, and that is for her father to return home from the war. This discovery sets Ivy off on a mission. Who wrote the note? Did the man ever come home? What mysteries did the Rose family hold?

Ivy’s quest brings her into the community, at a time when all she wanted to do was be left alone and nurse her wounds. But the magic of Christmas makes miracles happen, and Ivy just might find more than she ever thought possible: a welcoming town, a family reunited, a mystery solved, and a second chance at love.

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hopelessly sentimental, rewarding, refreshing, perfect feel-good read. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Superbly written fiction with a touch of the best tropes.
I literally gobbled this up in a couple of hours. I woke up, had my coffee and sat down to read before the rest of my household woke up. I enjoyed this book, uninterrupted and hated when it was over. In fact, while reading I glanced at my page count and saw that I was already at 85%. That rarely happens that I am that engrossed.

The Santa suit first caught my eye from an email I received highlighting upcoming releases. And after reading the blurb, I was hooked despite the fact I don’t usually delve into the Christmas trope until at least October. I’m so glad I did.

While this book has a bit of several tropes for example: Christmas, second chance, mystery, women’s fiction, romance and new beginnings, I did not feel the plot was overdone. In addition, there is a wonderful plot twist at the end that just made me tear up.

I won’t go into detail about the premise of this book. The blurb will tell you all you need to know and the book will leave you teary-eyed and smiling. This is actually my first book by this author and I will most definitely be reading more from her.

Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! Don’t wait for the holiday season to read this fulfilling fat paced Christmas gem,

While I received an advanced reading copy of The Santa suit, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time ro read it.

With the holidays looming, Faith and Hunter begin the festive season with a bang.
Join the new Mr. & Mrs. Vaughn as they embark on their first Christmas together, and nothing says Christmas like a secret Santa wager! Back to their old tricks, Faith and Hunter attempt to best each other when it comes to gift giving.
When their best friends want in on the wager, be ready for some fumbling, holiday shenanigans!
A holiday, romantic comedy novella.

“I didn’t get to tell you about my great idea yet. Hunter totally stole my thunder.” She grabs my hand and drags me over to the couch. I try to adjust my pants, but there’s no hiding the tripod I’m sporting right now.

“I can see why you chose Hunter to pop your cherry, girl. You’re lucky that monster didn’t split you in two.”

“Stop checking out my husband’s cock, Zee!” I love that Faith’s tone is jokey but with a possessive undercurrent.

“In my defense, it’s kind of hard to miss right now.” Coop’s brow furrows, but he keeps his mouth shut, which is so unlike him. Has he been replaced with an alien imposter? This guy has got it bad.

“Secret Santa!” Faith blurts out. She does that sometimes—shouts one or two words that really should be part of a coherent thought. I’ve gotten used to reminding her that I can’t actually read her mind.

“You’re going to have to elaborate on that thought, love.” I chuckle as she realizes we have no idea what she’s talking about.

“Yeah. So, I was thinking you and I could have a little wager.” The second I hear the word, I know I’m in for a crazy December.

“Another wager? You know how the last one turned out.”

“Exactly! I got the man of my dreams, and I won the wager. You cashed in my V-Card. You really punched it, stamped it, humped it to within an inch of its life.” Coop and Zee snigger as Faith goes off on one of her tangents.

“Love, please stop talking about your V-Card. What’s the new wager?” I know I’m going to regret asking.

“My favorite part of Christmas was never big or expensive gifts. It was the junk I got in my stocking. The silly games or some little trinket that ‘Santa’ knew I liked. I think it would be fun to have a Secret Santa wager. From now until Christmas Eve, we see which one of us can find the most ridiculous, funny gift for each other. What do you think?”

God, I love her sense of humor. This is actually a really good idea. It will certainly make the yuletide interesting. Not that it could ever be dull with Faith around. I hold out my hand to shake on it.

“You have yourself a deal, Mrs. Vaughn.”

“Oh, hold up!” Zee interjects. “We want in on that wager.” Coop looks as surprised as me.

“We do?”

“Come on. We could use some fun! If we’re all going to Aspen together, we should all be in on this wager. They got to have so much fun with their last one. Why shouldn’t we have some laughs?”

“I thought you weren’t sure if you wanted to keep me around until Christmas.”

“Don’t be a drama queen, Coop. Let’s do it, please?” One look at her pouty lips, and he’s a goner. They both turn to us expectantly, seeking entrance to another of Faith’s hair-brained plans.

“Wasn’t my idea. Not my call. What do you think, Faith? It’s your hair-brained scheme. Does this plan have room for two more?”

“I’d have gladly helped with the first plan if given the chance.” Coop thinks he’s being funny, but I want to throat punch him right about now.

“Say that again, and your Christmas present from me will be a shallow grave.” Faith is practically bouncing, she’s so excited at the prospect of a new game.

“Okay, okay. We can make this work. It’s going to be even better with all four of us. First, we need some ground rules.”

“We’re listening.”

“First of all, there’s a hundred dollar spend limit for any one gift. Second, you can only gift once a day. Rule three, this is anonymous in the spirit of Secret Santa. We don’t have to pick names out of a hat or anything. You’re free to gift to whomever you choose. On Christmas Eve, we’ll reveal who gave each of the gifts. Sound good?”

Coop immediately chimes in with the same thought as me. “Are we allowed dirty gifts?” Faith looks to me with mischief dancing in her eyes like sugar plum fairies before wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.

“Anything goes!” She’s going to be the death of me.

“Are you sure about that? Coop has a pretty twisted sense of humor.”

“It’ll be fun. Yes, anything goes.” Then, I see the light go on in Zee’s eyes. She’s already thinking up something dirty.

“We need to add another rule. Whatever gift you receive, you have to use it.” I suddenly feel old as fuck.

“Are you all remembering that I’m an old man pushing forty?”

“All the more fun,” Faith teases. I should’ve kept my mouth shut. Coop is going to crucify me.

“Okay, old man river. I’m going to be in my thirties next year. Is this what I have to look forward to?”

“I could still take you down on and off the field, Danford!”

“I just let you think that. I wouldn’t want you to bust a hip trying to keep up with me.”

“You’re right. I wouldn’t want to injure myself walking to the closet to get my Hall of Fame jacket. You don’t have that problem.” Verbal sparring with Coop is one of my favorite pastimes. Only the three Fs give me more pleasure—Faith, fucking, and football.

Coop flips me the bird before grabbing four shot glasses from the kitchen and a bottle of tequila from my not-so-secret liquor cabinet. Handing us each a shot glass, he fills them to the rim.

“To our festive wager. May Secret Santa bring you everything you want this Christmas, and maybe some stuff you don’t. To us… the naughty and the nice!”

I’m happiest when wandering through the uncharted territory of my imagination. You’ll find me curled up with my laptop, browsing the books at the local library, or enjoying the smell of a new book, taking great delight in cracking the spine and writing in the margins!

MY REVIEW: 5 Stars!

The setting for the book was fun. There is quite a bit of humor which really surprised me because I wasn’t expecting it. I won’t go into any details about the story because you should definitely experience this charming book all on your own.

Another pleasant aspect of this book is that the author was a first for me. I will most definitely read more from her in the future. I totally recommend this delightful, whimsical romance with a whole cast of endearing characters with a setting just perfect for the holiday. This will be a re-read for me every holiday season, for sure!

In addition, let me say that this book was a surprise. To be honest, the first chapter with Soren had me downright disgusted. He was a jerk. Soren was an arrogant, selfish, inconsiderate……yep, the list goes on. He was so mean; I didn’t even want to like him. And I worried for the heroine because I just couldn’t see how Soren could be redeemed. I won’t lie, I fought with myself whether to continue reading. It’s not like I haven’t read heroes who were jerks, but Soren was in a league of his own. Because I adored Bridget from the start, I read on. Let me say I am so glad I did. This book was just amazing in so many ways. Of course, there are background stories on both Soren and Bridget which makes them who they are. This book starts out with a serious tone then after a couple of chapters turns fun and whimsical. The secondary characters were a huge part of why I gave this book 5 stars. And the ending? Incredible!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
